EXTENSION OF THE ESSEN TRADE FAIR

Main factors of the project are: the north-south axis linking with the northern motorway access, the planted area of the Gruga Park, the residential quarter to the east, and the notable size of the extension itself.
The smallest possible area of parkland will be affected by developing important themes to the redesign of the park itself, both in terms of new landscaping and of clarity of the urban and architectural relationships.
The new linear building is connected to the existing halls, though it is designed to be used independently and groups its major public spaces, like the congress centre, the main entrance, the entrance to the park, at the point facing the road axis.
The street side has also been redefined. Within the deliberately unified site plan a lattice of planted areas along the main thoroughfare alludes to its connections with the city.
