At one end the building resembles the lofty prow of a ship that has just dropped anchor. The soaring curve of its bronzed sides reflected in the water below and the dramatic power of streamlined metal tempered by a porthole gazing out like an ironically oversized eye at the New World. The structure then develops into the luminous vertical section of a ship open to new experience and opportunities, with lavish clear glass surfaces divided by burnished bronze string courses. The idea of the ship was suggested by the triangular site itself, partly occupied by an existing building.
An effective design concept to focus on the dynamism of client firm, its strongly market oriented philosophy and the bustling activity of the gigantic showroom, with a teak catwalk leading from the base of the prow into the core of the building.
A long rooflight axis cuts the building vertically in two, unifing internal spaces.
