Nuovo Parco Tecnologico Scientifico Leonardo - Collina degli Erzelli
The Erzelli hill is an area of more than 400,000 square metres close to Genoa airport. It was created for industrial use but no development has ever taken place. Thanks to a major urban redevelopment project, it is set to house the Genoa Erzelli Science and Technology Park, which will give the city of Genoa the most innovative centre of high technology, research, training and business.
Thanks to its location, the Genoa Erzelli Technology Park will be able to form an integral part of the city while guaranteeing a strategic position close to transport and communications networks: it is close to the motorway exit, just 800m from C. Colombo International Airport and has excellent links with the city centre, the railway station and the ferry terminal.
The Park will be Italy's largest centre entirely dedicated to research and innovation. It is located next to Genoa's industrial and technological areas and offers the opportunity for real cooperation and exchanges, on an international level, between the educational basic research sector (Universities) and the area of innovation and advanced research (industry, service and start-up companies ).
Italy's only example of Technology Park will house the Engineering Department, production units, offices, laboratories and research centres of businesses and institutions operating in areas of advanced technology. It will also offer accommodation for researchers, students and the general public as well as a new residential area, services and cultural and sports activities.
Technical Notes
The Masterplan foresees that some 70% of the Village will be used for high tech and training/education, 200 businesses will be located there, 15.000 new users are forecast, of which 5.000 students and at least 6.000 highly- qualified jobs will be created.
The residential areas will be developed in the most scenic locations and shall be close to parks and facilities.
The Engineering Department project, covering a gross surface of 85.000 sqm, has been designed by Architect Bellini and has been carried out by Integrated Building Service office of EuroMilano.
The project is destined to change Genoa's image and its role in the national economy while giving the city a 100,000 square metres park with many facilities and 200,000 square metres of green areas along the slopes to Monte Guano. Sports, leisure and entertainment facilities will be set up here.
The transformation of the area will be carried out by Genova High Tech, a recently set up company owned by EuroMilano. Several Genovese businesses that operate in the hi-tech sector also belong to the company.
